Facilities
The village hall is well equipped for hosting a wide range of activities from parties to lectures and is licenced to accommodate up to 80 people.
The hall is entered via double doors and a foyer and measures 11m x 6m. Toilets are also accessed from the foyer and have separate gents, ladies and disabled, including baby change facilities. A temporary ramp is available for disabled access. A modern fully equipped kitchen is accessed directly from the hall via a single door/serving hatch. A second external door and hallway are located off the main hall.
The hall can accommodate up to sixty people seated with thirty two upholstered chairs plus sixty plastic chairs and sixteen collapsible tables available (ten 1.8m Gopac and six 1.2m square). Trestle tables are also available. The kitchen is equipped with cooker, hob, microwave and fridge plus plate warmer and hostess trolley and crockery/cutlery for sixty. Wine and beer glasses are also available. The hall also holds a Level 5 Food Hygiene certificate.
The hall has a variety of lighting modes including high level fluorescent and LED and suspended low level on a dimmer switch to allow all levels of lighting to suit the occasion. Heating is provided throughout the building via renewable, air source heating. This can be controlled both on-site or remotely by members of the management committee.
Wifi internet is available in the building, details of how to join the network are on the noticeboard in the main hall.
There is a retractable screen and projector in the hall that is available to use. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use this at your event.
The hall is well used for a variety of activities including children’s parties, anniversary celebrations, exercise sessions, mother & baby groups, quiz nights, community meetings, elections and village clubs. The clubs include Tai Chi Chic, Ballet, Lunch in the hall on first Saturday of month in aid of St Laurence Church and a Breakfast Club on the third Sunday of the month. Sustainability is important to the trustees who, over the previous three years, have worked tirelessly to reduce the hall’s carbon footprint. All the windows have been replaced with upvc double glazed units, an Air Source Heat Pump has been installed to generate the hall’s heating and hot water. In January 2024 a number of solar panels were installed to reduce the hall’s reliability on the National Grid.
